To get to Mount Guan , we must depart from Kaohsiung. We took the high-speed train to Kaohsiung the day before departure and stayed overnight.
The entrance to the mountain is Mount Guan Forest Road, where the driver took us to the 27k drop-off point to begin our journey.
The campsite is located at God Pond, about 2 hours aways from trailhead.
Before noon, we reached the God Pond, around 2400m altitude, and set up camp, this time with ample time to explore the surroundings before nightfall.
Campsites were close together, allowing everyone to bring ample food.
A nearby small stream consistently supplies clean water for the camp near the God Pond.
Even though the God Pond has dried up this season , the surrounding scenery remains enchanting. In the pond's center, we found many dead tree trunks that were once submerged. On the dry ground, we spotted deer tracks. The dried-up pool, shrouded in a thin mist, acquires a mysterious ambiance, as if an otherworldly realm, intensifying its captivating allure.
The next morning , we set up from the campsite with light gear towards Mount Guan.
The summit area of Mount Guan is not large, roughly a small platform that can accommodate about a dozen people.
The UNUS52 BACKPACK use the compression straps on the sides to reduce the volume of the backpack, making it very convenient for use as a summit pack.
Beneath the warm mountain sun, the relaxed tents and sleeping bag create a genuinely soothing atmosphere.
After coming down the mountain, the driver cooked fried rice and soup for us at the trailhead, marking the end of our trip.
